2020 CCL Conference

January 27 - 30, French Lick Springs Hotel, French Lick, IN

For the 2020 CCL Conference, we’ll be traveling to the historic French Lick Springs Hotel in southern Indiana. Originally built in 1945, this hotel was initially a health spa due to the abundant nearby mineral springs. At the turn of the twentieth century, the hotel was rebuilt of scagliola (faux marble) and Italian mosaic floors. This is the style that remains today after a complete restoration/renovation in the mid-2000s.

In addition to professional workshops and numerous networking opportunities, attendees at the conference will have the opportunity to choose from numerous restaurant options within the resort complex via meal vouchers. We will also have indoor go-cart races, bowling, and several other activities designed to educate, encourage, and refresh people serving in camp ministry.

Jaime Levy, President and Chief Vision Officer of J.D. Levy & Associates, will be speaking. Jamie is a faculty member at Indiana University, where he teaches in the graduate and professional programs in nonprofit management and development through the IU Center on Philanthropy, School of Public and Environmental Affairs, and The Fund Raising School. Through his teaching and consulting, he has trained and developed more than 20,000 professionals from over 30 countries. Jamie is a published writer and keynote speaker.  He is recognized for his expertise in the area of organizational development, especially as it relates to philanthropic sustainability and development.

Music TBA.

Optionally, there is an on-site sporting clays course for an additional fee.

Call for Presentations

Christian camp professionals from across the U.S. gather at the Christian Camp Leaders (CCL) Conference each January. This is a conference for dialogue, learning, networking, and exploration of critical topics for camps and individuals dedicated to camp ministry. Session types include Celebrations, Workshops, and Speed Sessions.

If you would like to present in any of these sessions, or if you know of someone whom you think should be a presenter at the 2020 CCL Conference, please send a proposal to by February 22, 2019. Please understand that not all proposals can be used in any one conference. Sales pitches will not be considered for presentation.

Session types and presenter expectations are explained below.

These are main sessions for all conference attendees and focus on spiritual growth and encouragement. The 2020 conference’s focus is John 15:5, where Jesus says “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (NIV)

Speakers could share a story, illustration, song, reading, devotional thought, or sermon. We believe strongly that co-laborers in camp ministry are one of the best sources of encouragement, and so we want to use much of this time to hear from each other. Multiple presenters will share in each session, and each presenter should plan for between two and twenty minutes. Please include an approximate time for each proposal.

These are 75-minute sessions dealing with a variety of current topics. Workshop presentations should generally fall into one of the following tracks: Leadership Development, Administration, Program, Guest Services, Facilities, or Food Service. We are interested in both sessions that include practical, hands-on solutions and sessions that provide theoretical, study-based presentations. Workshop presenters should generally have some technical or professional expertise.

Speed Sessions

These sessions are designed to be fast-paced and informative while lasting only 20 minutes. They should spark an idea and provide resources to help attendees dive deeper on their own. Often these sessions will transition into one-on-one and small group conversations.
